Bridges: Dentists and Dental Services near Bonita Beach FL

(Dentist Services Available In Naples By For Smiles Dentists)

A dental bridge is used to replace a missing tooth. This bridge is supported by two porcelain crowns on either side of the area. It will be held in place by the crowns on either side of it. They call this a fixed bridge and will last over 10 years when it is properly cared for.

A bridge's purpose is the same as an implant. There is always a gap when a tooth falls out or is removed and depending on your individual circumstances you may not have the resources to do the implant. A bridge is cost effect, but is not permanent like an implant and bridges have shorter lifespans. You must take care of the bridge and be sure to take care of it.

A missing tooth can be the worst thing to happen, especially when you can't afford to have an implant done. Or maybe you just can't get one because bone loss has occurred in your gum to a significant mount. A bridge will be the perfect alternative for you. Missing a tooth is serious because it can cause adjacent teeth to move into the area, cause gum disease and even cause more teeth loss. If you don't want any of these things to happen, you are the perfect candidate.

We will need to file down the adjacent teeth so that there will be space for the crowns to be used as anchors for that new tooth. A local anesthetic will be used so that no pain will be felt in the area. The crowns will be made from impressions that we take and a lab will construct the bridge. While you are waiting for your new tooth, you will be given a temporary bridge. During the next appointment, the temporary bridge will be replaced by the real one. Cement holds the permanent one in place for proper adhesion.

You don't have to worry about that tooth any more! Resume your normal daily life. If you find that you are sensitive to heat or cold, rest assured this is a normal reaction to the procedure, but you can always call us with any questions.

What to Expect

Step up your game when it comes to your oral hygiene rituals. A bridge must be cared for better than your other teeth. It is even more important to maintain healthy habits such as regular brushing after meals, flossing and dentist visits on a regular schedule which is recommended to be every 3 to 6 months.
